Facebook posts I can't stand

Why is it that when people fall in love they get nauseatingly mushy? A Facebook friend recently posted pictures from a double date. The title of the album was "Double Date. <Smiley face>"

Why not put it as "Dinner with Jon and Jane" or "Dinner at Restaurant X"? Why "Double date <smiley face>"? My guess is that there are those who love the idea of being a couple. Like, love it more than anything in the world. Like, life isn't complete without another person filling the gap. I am big on stereotyping I know but I bet these people are also those who ONLY put meaningful, wholesome shit on their Facebook. I wonder if I were on a double date with a wholesome pair, what would be the outcome of the dinner. I have seen the wholesome types. They make us the cynical types feel like we are bad people.

The other thing I cannot understand is how popular newborn/kids Facebook posts are. I mean, I do congratulate people who have just given birth and close friends who know me know that I really like kids. It's the comments made by fellow parents that kills me a little. These people really like kids. Their Facebook profile pics usually show them with a brood of kids. They are most likely to LIKE a photo or news feed from fellow moms and dads about a family outing or a birthday. What's there to LIKE about a blah trip to the zoo?? If it was say, "my kid doing a skateboard stunt at 3" now that is worth a LIKE. Not some trip to the zoo?? Unless you are the kid's parent, grandparent, aunt, godmother or in some close and personal way, know that kid. Yep, my blog my rules.

Again, nothing against people with kids. It's the "having kids is the only, most wonderful thing in the world" vibe that I cannot understand. See, having kids ISN'T the only, most wonderful thing in the world. I am so waiting to see a post from a parent that actually makes a joke about parenthood or their kids in a wicked, conan o' brien humor way, not mushy wholesome humor way.

So being in love and having kids really make some people boring. Turn them into mushy mashed potatoes (which are really bad carbs, by the way).
